    P.G.C. Eng. (Freemasons). Vicar of Stowupland, Suffolk, Rector of Sweffling, Suffolk and subsequently Chaplain at Dinard, France (1890-1895), Rector of Drewsteignton, Devon (1895-1904), to which he was presented by his cousin, Sir Henry Peek, Bart, and, lastly, Rector of St Magnus-the-Martyr, London Bridge, (1904-1920), which was also then in the gift of the Peek baronetcy. An ardent Freemason who held several distinguished offices in the Craft, including those of Provincial Grand Chaplain of Suffolk and of Jersey and, in 1899, Grand Chaplain of England.

    In June 1895 the Rev. Richard Peek saved the life of a young French girl who jumped overboard from the ferry midway between Dinard and St. Malo, Brittany, and was subsequently awarded the bronze medal of the Royal Humane Society and the Gold Medal 1st Class of the Sociâetâe Nationale de Sauvetage de France. He and his wife Ada Peek are commemorated by a plaque in Drewsteignton Church. See "The Times" of 20 July 1920.
