- F.L.S. A solicitor of 5 King's Bench Walk, Temple, and partner in the firm of Peek and Downing of 10 Basinghall St, London. Freeman of the City of London (July 1861). He retired from practice in 1864 and devoted the rest of his life to social and legal advisory work in Brighton, where he lived at Walton House. He was also much attached to the study of marine biology and published several papers on the subject of ichthyology. As a result of his strong interest in this branch of natural history he was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society on 21 April 1864. He died at his country residence.
